Myerson on state of US cyclocross

By

I caught up recently with Adam Myerson, who races on the road with team Mountain Khakis and on the ‘cross bike with team Cycle-Smart. I asked him about the state of cyclocross in the US, his 20 years of racing ‘cross, and how to grow the sport.

Here’s what he had to say:

Adam mentions rank-and-file racers as customers. Too bad USA Cycling doesn’t feel that way.

As luke-warm as ‘cross is right now it only got that way because USA Cycling hasn’t paid any attention to it.

To be fair to the promoters, they are in a tough spot working with a federation whose only interest is finding the next Lance Armstrong. 10 years of negative participation growth and anemic UCI results should be a clue USAC is not interested in promoting or officiating racing.
