This Sunday, ‘Race for the Wine’ at Floyd

Bike racing and booze go together so well, which is why you must consider the Race for the Wine presented by Cycles Gladiator Wine taking place this Sunday at Floyd Bennett Field, in Brooklyn, New York.

While you may not wish to quaff warm red wine after racing 50 miles on the challenging Floyd course, and instead opt for water, then Gatorade, then finally beer, you just might prize having a case of vino for the fall, when you hang up your road bike and hunker down for things like, well, your significant other, or cyclocross.

REGISTRATION: Opens at 6:45AM. Closes 10 minutes before the start of each race. Day of race registration is $35. Save time and money — register online! Juniors race with their category ($5 entry fee for Juniors).

Pro/1-2 and Category 3 Handicap Race Format: – The Pro/1-2 and Category 3 race will be run as a handicap. The Category 3 riders will start first followed by the Pro/1-2 riders 3 minutes later. Everybody races for the same prize money so the Pro/1-2 riders must catch the Category 3 riders in order to place.

DISCLAIMER: Promoter reserves the right to shorten race distances due to weather conditions and/or time constraints. Promoter reserves the right to cancel, combine fields and/or reduce prize money if minimum fields are not met.

Category 4 Race:

2nd = $60
3rd = $55
4th = $45
5th = $40

* NOTE: The full prize will only be be pad if there are 15+ starters. If there are 10-14 starters only 1st and 2nd place prizes will be awarded. If there are less than 10 starters only the 1st place case of Cycles Gladiator Wine will be awarded.
