Contador Drives From Spain to Belgium Because of Volcano
As the Icelandic volcano continues to wreak travel havoc across Europe, some pro riders are taking matters into their own hands. After wrapping up the overall Sunday at the Vuelta a Castilla y Leon, Alberto Contador hopped into his custom-painted Audi wagon and drove 1,900 k from Spain to Belgium to ensure he’d be on time for tomorrow’s Fleche Wallonne. Actually, Alberto’s brother, Fran, did the driving, and Astana teammate Benjamin Noval hitched a ride. The drive took the trio nearly 24 hours (including a stop in central France to rest), but Contador was still feeling sprightly enough when they arrived to ride 30 k or so of the Liege Bastogne Liege course.

Bicycling’s Joe Lindsey took the new SRAM “budget gruppo” Apex for a spin at Sea Otter. Could be a good option for cyclocross.

Adam Myerson’s Battenkill Race Report and Uber-Secret Power Numbers
Team Mountain Khakis rider Adam Myerson didn’t have a great day at Battenkill this past Sunday, and ended up dropping out at the second feed zone on lap two. As always ,though, he provides some keen insight into his race and the race at large. Plus, Adam is kind enough to provide his power numbers, which display in cold, raw figures what a hard day in the saddle Battenkill is.

Haussler Takes Manhattan
German-Aussie Henirich Haussler was in NYC last week to gladhand some Cervelo sponsors (no doubt escorted by Joao Correia). Why didn’t he come out to race at Floyd?!
