Chicago Tribune does cyclocross

The Chicago Tribune covered cyclocross in two recent features, discussing its rise in popularity in the Midwest.
As I hunker down here in Brooklyn for my first cross season and continue to dial in the (bloody!) cleats on my first pair of (stubborn!) mountain bike shoes to go with my first (steel!) cross bike—yeah, it’s a season of exclamatory firsts—I learned of another first: a couple of stories about cross in my hometown newspaper, the Chicago Tribune.
One’s a slide show that covers the basics of cross; the other’s an article about the nuttiness of the sport.
Reporter Luke Seemann quoted Leah Sanda, who said: “Cross is enjoying its latest wave of popularity in the U.S., and Chicago is a hotbed, as hundreds of dirt-loving mountain bikers, triathletes and road racers look to extend their fitness into winter.”
I always knew there was a decent cross scene in the Midwest, so it’s good to see that the Trib is giving the sport its due respect.
Anyone wanna road trip to Chicago for some cross racing?
