Kissena posts 2010 road schedule
Before the start at the 2009 Tour of Governors Island.
The Kissena Cycling Club has announced its scheduled road races for 2010.
The tentative list includes 35 races in various locations throughout the New York City area.
In addition to the ongoing race series at Brooklyn’s Prospect Park and Floyd Bennett Field, a third race will take place on Governors Island, the Governors Island Cycling Classic, after two very successful races on the island in 2009.
A tentative new race will take place at Long Island’s SUNY Old Westbury Campus on Sunday, July 4. The undulating 4-mile loop features several short, steep climbs offering a challenging local road course.
“We’re excited to once again offer more than 30 open races” said Charlie Issendorf, Kissena’s road race director. “The races at Governors Island were incredibly successful, and we’re looking forward to adding a third race next year.
“Also, having racing return to the SUNY Old Westbury Campus after an almost 30 year hiatus is great news. Races were held at the campus regularly in the late ’70s—it’s a fantastic course!”
